Katelyn Corbin named Week 16 Athlete of the Week

It has been a perfect season in the MCAC so far for the Providence University College Women’s Volleyball team. With a 12-0 record on the season, there are definitely a lot of bright spots in Providence’s game. But when you look carefully at the first-place Pilots, you will see that it is their defense that stands out – a defense anchored by Katelyn Corbin.

Providence went 2-0 on the weekend against CMU and RRC, without even surrendering a set. A big part of that was due to Corbin’s 22 digs and 2.1 passer rating. The Pilots libero was huge on the serve receive, and helped her team to yet another flawless weekend. In a way, it was just another weekend of play for Corbin, as her consistency has been one of her biggest skills all year round.

“Libero’s often get overlooked, but Katelyn has come out of the break being one of our best players,” says head coach Scott Masterson. “Her leadership and competitiveness in practice and in-game has made a significant impact on our overall success, and I’m really happy to see her recognized for her hard work, consistent play, and positive attitude.

Corbin’s great attitude has translated off the court as well, as she spends time volunteering as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg, as a coach at Providence Sports Camps, and also at Siloam Mission.

The 5’6” libero is in her third year studying Humanities at Providence University College.
