Quentin Raval named Week 15 Athlete of the Week

By the time the last month of the season rolls around, winless teams have a choice - roll over or keep fighting.

It’s been a tough campaign for the Université de Saint-Boniface men’s volleyball team, but in Week 15 they fought back and got their first win of the season - a straight sets victory on Jan. 23 over Canadian Mennonite University.

Making the biggest impact was second-year left side Quentin Raval. The 19-year-old led his team in kills, attempts and efficiency to get them not only their first win of the season, but a convincing one at that.

"Our match last week was very indicative of Quentin's leadership ability,” said Les Rouges head coach Guy Bourgeois. “He was able to execute throughout the match, but most notably when confronting critical, game-impacting situations."

With four teams competing in men’s volleyball, Les Rouges are guaranteed to make the Volleyball Final 4’s - but their seeding is still up in the air. Just two points behind third-place CMU, a Feb. 4 matchup between the two teams will do a lot to decide where the teams finish at the end of the season.

The 6’3” Raval, a hockey player as well as a volleyball player, is studying sciences and attended Collége Louis-Riel.
