Andrew Letkeman named Week 5 Athlete of the Week

With only two points separating the top three teams in the MCAC, the men's rankings have proven to be the chase to the finish in a very competitive field. In Week 5, fifth-year Andrew Letkeman continued to show why he's been such a stalwart for the CMU men's team for as many years. The Blazers eked out a 1-nil win against the Brandon University Bobcats at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex which keeps BU out of the playoff picture and gives the Blazers a three point lead over Providence in the standings.

"Drew was unavailable the last time we played BU" says Head Coach Russell Willms, "and he made a huge difference for us in defending what I think is the best counter-attacking team in the MCAC."

Fans of the MCAC and CMU Blazers can expect to hear Letkeman's voice during soccer and futsal matches as he is often the loudest player on a very vocal and strategized CMU team. He is the engine that drives the Blazers and Willms knows it.

"Drew is a leader on the field for us and showed again last week with the difference that he made, that he is one of the top players in the conference".

The Blazers see the Assiniboine Community College Cougars this Saturday at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex at 2:15 pm.
