    MCAC announces Basketball All-Conference Teams

    Just before each semifinals match at the MCAC 2013 Basketball Final 4’s on Friday, the conference revealed its All-Conference Teams and Most Valuable Players in both men’s and women’s basketball to the audience at The University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre.  The selections were based on votes by the member schools’ coaches and are listed below:

    Men’s Basketball

    Most Valuable Player - Mike Hebert, Red River College (pictured)
    Stephen Jones, Canadian Mennonite University
    Mike Villanueva, University of Winnipeg
    Daman Morissette, Red River College
    Kyle Queijo, Red River College
    Johnathan Thompson, Providence University College

    Women’s Basketball

    Most Valuable Player - Abby Silva, Red River College (pictured)
    Crystal Harms, Providence University College
    Sonia Radi, University of Winnipeg
    Kristina Larson, Providence University College
    Celecia Luckwell, Red River College
    Kathleen Klippenstein, Canadian Mennonite University
    Brittany Rosenfelt, University of Winnipeg

    Because of a voting tie, there is one more All-Conference selection in women’s basketball.

    The Basketball Final 4’s take place at The University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre, in the Dr. David F. Anderson Gym, on Friday, Mar. 1 and Saturday, Mar. 2.  The women’s championship between #1-seeded Red River College and #2 University of Winnipeg College will be played at 2 p.m. on Mar. 2.  The men’s championship between #1 Red River College and #2 University of Winnipeg College will be played at 4 p.m. on Mar. 2.

    Media passes are available at the door of all matches.  For the public, day passes are $5.  Students at MCAC member schools get in free by showing valid student ID.
