Rebels Women's Volleyball Team Travels to Minnesota

The lady Rebels were welcomed to Bemidji, Minnesota by Oak Hills Christian College, who were playing their first home games of the season on Halloween night.

To the dismay of a large and enthusiastic home crowd, RRC’s Tianna Mager opened the first game with 4 consecutive service aces, launching a 6-0 lead. Oak Hills managed to close the gap, but RRC held on to take the first set, 25-22.

In the second set strong passing allowed the Rebels to take advantage of their quick middle attack, as Jordan Krahn and Jessica Thomson combined for 9 kills. With all aspects of their game coming together, RRC stormed to a 25-10 win.

The third set proved to be a much closer battle. That is until the Rebels once again found their serving prowess. They registered 6 aces in the match’s final 13 points, winning 25-19 and 3 sets to none. Leanne Chlopecki and Jordan Krahn led RRC’s offensive charge with 10 and 9 kills respectively.

Tianna Mager posted team highs with 23 assists, 8 service aces, and shared the lead in digs with teammate Natalie Stadnyk, each with 5.

The Rebels definitely came ready to play for the second match of the weekend. With strong passing and defense, RRC built first set leads of 8-0 and 15-3. They quickly defeated Oak Hills by a score of 25-6.

The second set proved not as easy for RRC, but effective defensive efforts from Jenna Pachkowksy, Joleene Klassen and Jordan Krahn, who combined for 13 second set digs, the Rebels took the second game 25-19.

With robust support from their hometown crowd, a determined Oak Hills squad jumped out to 8-0 and a 20-13 leads, and held on to win the third set, 25-22.

In a hard fought fourth set, crucial kills from Leanne Chlopecki, Joleene Klassen and Jenna Pachkowsky lead the Rebels to a slim 26-24 win, and a 3-1 match victory.

Once again Leanne Chlopecki was the Rebels’ leader in attacking with 12 kills. Jordan Krahn picked up the first double-double of the year, collecting 12 kills and 11 digs. Tianna Mager also posted a season high 33 assists.

RRC will host a Booth College home game this Friday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. It will be the third of four seasonal matchups between the two schools, with the Rebels currently leading the season series 2-0. In their last meeting, Booth pushed RRC to a fifth and deciding set before the Rebels squeaked out an 18-16 win. Friday should once again prove to be an entertaining clash.
